Matt's power of self-acceleration grants him the ability to manipulate his molecules to move at superhuman speeds that may be close in the range of the speed of light. When his power is in use his reaction state is about 5 times faster than that of a normal human, and the speed at which his brain processes information is heightened to a level appropriate to his bodily speed, enabling him to perceive his surroundings while traveling at high velocities.

A glowing aura surrounds his frame when he uses his power preventing the air friction from affecting his body and clothing while moving. Through the protection of this aura Matt can also vibrate through solid matter, literally burst through walls, unscathed by the impact of the crash.
