As the eldest living sister, Piper Halliwell takes the role of lead witch among the Charmed Ones. Armed with the most defensive and offensive powers, she is arguably the most powerful of the sisterly trio. Known as the master of potions and the moral compass of the Charmed Ones, Piper is the most down to earth of the sisters and also craves the safe haven of normalcy.

Although proud of her Wiccan heritage out of the three ladies, Piper is the most reluctant when it comes to fully embracing her destiny as a Charmed One. As powerful a witch as she is, she'd rather live her life without fear of the next demonic attack on her life and the lives of her loved ones. The death of her older sister Prue, was the largest casualty Piper endured since living out of her destiny and the pain and fear of being unable to carry on without Prue nearly led to Piper's relinquishment of her Charmed responsibilities. Her saving grace was her surviving sisters, Phoebe and Paige, and not wanting to rob them of the future good they are destined to accomplish.

Once a hopeful young chef, Piper now settles for only cooking her fine cuisine meals for her family. She is currently the owner and manager of her own very successful nightclub, amply named P3 after herself and her sisters. Luckily for Piper, her professional life has experienced far less trials than her love life. Throughout her life Piper was labeled as the Halliwell sister who was most unlucky in love, after continuously falling for men she could never have long term commitments with due to unforeseen barriers and obstacles, at least on her part. Although this all changed when she met Leo Wyatt, a handyman hired to do odd end jobs around the manor.

She and Phoebe both competed for his affections, in the spirit of "friendly sibling rivalry", and although Piper won the gentleman's heart Leo turned out to be another lost cause. He was revealed as "guardian angel" to the Halliwells and was forbidden from pursuing a romantic relationship with his "charge." The pair parted ways, but this proved not to be the end of their whirlwind romance. After more failed romances and demons and warlocks vanquished, Piper and Leo would eventually reunite and began a tenuous journey down the road toward marriage. After trials and tests that proved her dedication to her Charmed destiny and her love for Leo remained balanced, Piper and her love were able to wed among family and friends at their home in the Halliwell Manor.

During alternate season five their union produced two offspring, fraternal twins Wyatt and Melinda Halliwell. Her marriage and the arrival of her children granted Piper that little bit of normalcy she craved, but it would not last. Close to the alternate season's end Leo sacrificed his own life to save the lives of his children, his wife, and in retrospect the world. The act unwittingly doomed Piper into becoming a widow and single mother of two very young children, who have been slowly coming into their tremendous powers. Despite a solid exterior, Piper has broken down on the inside becoming a shell of her old self.

As the new alternate season begins, Piper begins a journey of self re-discovery and single motherhood. Yet, with the support of her sisters there is much hope that she will pull through and prove herself the fighter everyone else knows that she is. Oh did I mention she's dealing with the fact that her once sworn enemy is her new guardian and protector? Yes, Piper Halliwell has a long and winding road ahead of her this new season.
